These grips are REAL ivory, handcrafted by a Korean artisan around the time of the Korean war. They were brought back by a GI in the 1950's. These signed grips are a deep relief carving of dragons and flowers. The work is very well executed and will look beautiful on any 1911. Raised relief carving highlights the beautiful contours of the design. The raised carving is much more realistic and difficult to produce than designs that are simply cut into the artwork. AFRICAN ELEPHANT: This is on the C.I.T.E.S. endangered species list. The importation, selling and buying of this ivory IS NOT ALLOWED INTERNATIONALLY.
