Description: This ad features the pictured Circa 1840s Joseph Lang 45 Caliber Percussion Long Rifle. The stock is curly maple with brass accents. The stock appears to have been refinished a few years ago. The barrel has a natural aged gray patina that is very pleasing to the eye. The brass was cleaned and has now turned a nice pleasing yellow. The barrel is 39 inches in length and has been relined at some point in time. You can see this in the close up of the muzzle. The bore is now a bit frosty with some pitting so I assume the relining was done while the gun was still in use. The gun has had several sights over the years and has a few empty dovetail slots as a result. The lock looks to be a commercial lock of the type widely in use at the time this gun was made. It is in operating condition but has no half cock notch. The gun has a set of very nice set triggers that are in perfect working order. The overall length of this gun is 54 and 3/4 inches. The patchbox opens and closes just as did 160 yeas ago. This gun displays well and is a very nice example of pre Civil War American Gunmaking.
