This rifle is one of the new configurations of the M1-A coming out of the Springfield armory to meet the needs of the US military for a more versatile and powerful rifle than the M-4 5.56 (.223) It has a 16" barrel with a very effective muzzle brake and its accuracy is not affected by the shortened barrel.
The US Military has revived its interest in the M1A .308 caliber rifles and M-14 rifles for use in the needed a reliable and accurate rifle that could reach out with major stopping power beyond 300 squads have a designated marksman who are now carrying some version of the SOCOM M1A semi-auto rifle, which reliably drops enemy soldiers with one hit, whereas it often takes 2-3 hits with the AR15 M-4 rifle to do the is a genuine battle rifle which because of its 16 inch barrel can function in close weighs about 8 lbs and some ounces.
It also can be fitted with 5 round magazines to be used as an excellent big game rifle.
Every month more accessories appear that can be attached to increase the versatility of this truly remarkable weapon.
This particular M1A SOCOM 16 has been shot very little but kept clean and well operation and outstanding accuracy is what you can expect from this solidly manufactured firearm. I purchased this from another individual who had installed it into a surplus Walnut M-14 stock.
In comparing its looks and handling (and nearly equivalent weight) between the synthetic stock and the Walnut, I chose to keep it in the Walnut it a nostalgic feel while providing excellent handling and performance.
Both the Walnut stock and the synthetic stock have some minor dings from being carried as a ranch rifle, but the important functional parts are immaculate.
I am offering this at a discount price to compensate for the dings in the stocks, but the metal is in good as new condition and will easily last you a lifetime.
The amazing compensator at the muzzle reduces the recoil to that which is not much more than an will be pleasantly shocked how little recoil this .308 caliber weapon has compared to a .30-06.
I have always shot this rifle stock with the iron sights and found them to be amazingly effective. I tried using an Aimpoint on it, but found that without magnification, it did little to increase my speed to first shot or accuracy using the iron sights.
I can sell it to you with the synthetic stock on it, but frankly it is ugly and less comfortable to shoot, so I am selling it with the Walnut stock, and I will ship you the synthetic stock if you wish. I will include several well-functioning magazines, 1 20 round and 2 10 round.
If you want a great all-around handy rifle that is powerful, easy to shoot, highly accurate, will operate trouble-free, and you will be able to hand down to your grand-kids, this is your now before someone else snaps it this price it won't last long.
If you want to pay for the shipping, I can ship you out several boxes of ammo as a bonus.
