Description: I am not an expert on Japanese rifles but I will provide information to the best of my ability.

From the research I was able to find online I would conclude that this firearm appears to be a type 99 Arisaka Rifle chambered for the 7.7mm round.

It appears that the original military stock has been nicely modified to sporterize it. Any holes in the original stock were filled with wooden inserts when it was refinished. It looks as if a furniture maker performed the work years ago. I believe the barrel has been shortened also (approx 21in.)

The barrel appers to be in beautiful shape. I don't see any signs of pitting. (Maybe this is why it was chosen to be sporterized.)

The markings indicate it was made in the Toyo Kogyo arsenal and is of the 33rd series from what I can tell.

I can see no import marks on this rifle.

The Mum on receiver is ground off.

It has matching serial numbers on the receiver and bolt.

This firearm does have signs of wear both on the metal and on the wood but appears to be in good working condition and would make a great hunting or target gun.
