Description:

The Tikka M55 sniper rifle is a bolt action repeater made from a one piece machined receiver. The action features a solid bridge, grooved, drilled and tapped for scope mounts. The bolt is one piece and has dual opposed front locking lugs with a bolt handle that serves as a safety lug. The magazine is a detachable, single column five round box type. The single stage trigger is adjustable for weight of pull. Receiver marked TIKKA M55 and the serial number. The barrel is stamped Cal. .22-250 REM, Oy Tikkakoski Ab, Made in Finland and there are British and Finnish proof marks. The biathlon style adjustable stock has been made for a right handed marksman and there is coarse stippling to the fore-end and pistol grip. Adjustable aluminium sling swivel rails are inset into the underside and right side of the fore-end.

Summary:

This rifle was used by the Australian Special Air Service Regiment when they had the responsibility for urban counter terrorist operations in the 1980s. Marksmen of the regiment were issued with two of these rifles, one like this one for day use and another fitted with a night telescope. A number of these rifles were obtained from the British SAS Regiment who used them for the same purpose as the Australian unit. The choice of the high velocity .22-250 smallbore cartridge was to reduce excessive penetration and eliminate ricochets.

The rifle has been upgraded with a much higher quality Lilja Match Grade Barrel. The barrel is a Lilja SS, Match Grade, Fluted Taper model. The rifle has shot repeated .34" @ 100yd five shot groups with premium ammo and Berger 52 grain reloads. Total round count is 75. Twist is 1 in 14 with 3 grooves. Barrel is free floated to the action for optimal accuracy.

The action has been blueprinted, polished and trued. This is a true Sako action, not the Tikka version. Without reservation, it's probably the smoothest action you'll ever operate. Action is pillar bedded

The stock is factory and fully stippled. It is adjustable for cheek height and butt plate height. It has a full accessory rail on the bottom of the forearm and a partial on the left side. It is also equipped with a tactical front carry sling. Additionally, it's equipped with a Harris-S Bipod and Pod Lok.

The trigger is has been reworked for adjustable weight and pull. It's currently set at 2 lbs but will adjust easily into the oz's. range very safely. It's also equipped with a Tyler Trigger Shoe. Best description of the trigger is; breaks like glass. Bolt has been polished and is equipped with a factory oversized handle.

It's equipped with a Leupold Vari-XIII 8.5-25 x 50mm w/Fine Plex Crosshairs, Alumina Scope Covers and Leupold Sunshade.

A custom parallax objective adjustment ring has been fitted for easy of adjustment and or can be quickly removed with an allen wrench. It is also equipped with a Sinclar offset Anti-Cant Level and Talley Detachable Rings and Bases.

I have two 5 round magazines available and I've been unable to locate any additional.

To my knowledge, this is the only Tikka M-55 Sniper Rifle offered in the country. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a very rare rifle in excellent condition. The rifle has been stored in a climate controlled safe, properly oiled and cared for.
