At the 2020 Shot Show, Mossberg announced the 940 series with the JM Pro Competition. Turkey, waterfowl, and a tactical variant (that can also be used as a competition gun) came next.  It's an improvement over the 930 series that gives users more control and a better experience. In the 940, spacers can be added or removed to extend or shorten stock fit. Additionally, Mossberg created barrel cuts in the Tactical 940 and Turkey versions to accommodate the mounting of a Shield RSMc-style red-dot reflex sight. The Pro Tactical and other 940 versions are some of the easiest firearms that Mossberg has produced.
